What is SIwpas?

Simple Web Profile Application Server (SIwpas) aim is not to implement a new "Java EE" application server from the scratch. SIwpas aim is to integrate Apache Software Foundation(ASF) JavaTM Platform, Enterprise Edition 6 (Java EE 6) Web Profile Specification related projects into the Apache Tomcat 7 for producing a Java EE 6 Web Profile compatible server.

SIwpas Release

Release procedure will be aggressive and frequent. If we find some critical bugs in integrated Apache projects, our aim is to report and contribute those bugs to related Apache projects but not wait for them to release.

Why another server?

Nowadays, lots of developers and companies want to use lighter application servers for their web applications. They do not want to use heavyweight Java EE Servers that implements JavaTM Platform, Enterprise Edition 6 (Java EE 6) Specification fully. And most of them uses Apache Tomcat in their production systems. As we said before, we translate the Apache Tomcat into Java EE web profile compatible server with adding required components.
