What is Microsoft Dynamics 365, and what should you check when choosing a CRM?

Microsoft Dynamics 365 is Microsoft’s family of CRM and ERP products that runs sales, customer service, field service, marketing, finance and supply chain processes with cloud-based applications. This page summarises Dynamics 365 neutrally from its public sources and lists the questions to ask when choosing a CRM in Turkey.

About Dynamics 365

What is Microsoft Dynamics 365?

Microsoft Dynamics 365 is Microsoft’s family of business applications: it brings customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications under one brand and data platform. The applications run in the cloud on a subscription (SaaS) model and are designed to work with Microsoft products such as Microsoft 365, Teams and Power BI.

A short history

  • Microsoft entered business applications through acquisitions: Great Plains Software in 2001 and the Danish company Navision in 2002.
  • Its first CRM product, Microsoft CRM, was released in 2003 and later renamed Dynamics CRM.
  • Dynamics 365 was released on 1 November 2016 as the successor to Dynamics CRM, bringing CRM and ERP applications into one family.
  • On 6 March 2023 Microsoft announced Copilot, its generative AI assistant, for Dynamics 365 applications.

Dynamics 365 applications

On the CRM side the main applications are Dynamics 365 Sales for sales, Customer Service, Field Service for field teams and Customer Insights for marketing. On the ERP side there are Finance and Supply Chain Management for large enterprises and Business Central for SMBs. The applications are extended with Power Platform tools and partner developments.

Dynamics CRM and pricing

What does Dynamics 365 Sales offer, and how is Dynamics 365 priced?

Today “Dynamics CRM” or “Microsoft Dynamics CRM” usually refers to the CRM applications of Dynamics 365, above all Dynamics 365 Sales for sales teams: it covers lead and opportunity tracking, account and contact management, sales stages, quotes and forecasting, and shares the same data platform (Dataverse) with other applications such as Customer Service and Customer Insights.

Microsoft publishes the Dynamics 365 Sales plans on the Dynamics 365 Sales pricing page. As of 23 October 2026 the page lists these options:

  • Free trial: a time-limited trial of the product.
  • Dynamics 365 Sales Professional: core sales force automation, priced per user per month, paid yearly.
  • Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise and Dynamics 365 Sales Premium: advanced automation, sales intelligence and AI features, priced per user per month, paid yearly.
  • Microsoft Relationship Sales: a bundle of Sales Enterprise and LinkedIn Sales Navigator, with a seat minimum and variable pricing.

Credit plans for Copilot Studio agents are sold separately. Current amounts vary by region, currency and contract, so check them directly on Microsoft’s pricing page. Total cost depends not only on licences but also on add-on applications, implementation, customisation, integration and support services.

How is Dynamics 365 used in Turkey?

Dynamics 365 projects are delivered worldwide with Microsoft partners, and implementation and tailoring projects in Turkey are mostly carried out with Microsoft partner consultancies. When evaluating, look at the partner’s local team, the support model, the country of the data centre where your data is stored and Turkey-specific requirements (İYS, e-invoice integrations, KVKK data protection) alongside the licence.

Selection criteria

Questions to ask when choosing a CRM in Turkey

Whichever platform you evaluate, the answers to these questions shape the total cost and the success of the project.

  • Is there a Turkish interface, and implementation and support delivered in Turkey, in Turkish?
  • In which country is your data stored? Does it require transferring personal data abroad under KVKK, Turkey’s data protection law?
  • How is integration with İYS, Turkey’s commercial message consent system, handled?
  • Can fields, stages and approvals specific to your sales process be adapted without code?
  • Are AI and automation part of everyday sales work, or a separate add-on?
  • What is the scope and cost of integrating existing systems such as ERP, accounting and email?
  • What is the three-year total cost including licences, implementation, customisation and support?
